Medication-related oral side effects

There is a need to be aware of potential oral side effects of medications that patients are taking. In clinical practice, the use of certain drugs in the treatment of medical conditions may result in a range of oral health side effects, which may present as an acute dental problem. Assessment by a dental professional may be required to rule out non-drug related causes. In certain cases, the side effects are relatively minor and can be simply managed, although there are cases where more urgent action or referral may be required.
